Conference venue and how to get there
The “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University is located in Abruzzo (central Italy), a distance of approximately 2 ½ hours east from Rome across the Apennine mountains. One part of the campus is in Chieti, on the Abruzzo hills. The other part, which will be the conference venue, is in Pescara, near the city centre and walking distance from the Adriatic coast and the pine wood celebrated by the poet (and Pescara native) Gabriele D’Annunzio.
The Pescara Campus is located in the southern part of the city, near the stadium, at this address: 42 Viale Pindaro, 65100 – Pescara (PE).
The city has a small airport with direct connections to/from London (Stansted), Barcelona (Girona), Bruxelles (Charleroi), Kraków, Warsaw, Malta, Bucharest, Prague, Tirana, Düsseldorf (Weeze) and Frankfurt Hahn (most of them Ryanair flights), which might be useful options for those of you travelling to Italy from/via Europe. The flights’ weekly timetables may vary according to the season (some are only activated in the period from April to October), so we recommend checking the airport website or the Ryanair website directly when planning your travel.
Pescara’s airport also offers a few national flights from/to Alghero, Bergamo (Orio al Serio), Catania, Turin, and Milan (Linate). Both Milan and Bergamo can also be useful as stopover airports when flying to Pescara.
Conference participants travelling from locations other than the ones mentioned above can consider taking a flight to Rome (either Ciampino or Fiumicino), and then one of the direct coaches to Pescara available from both airports.
You can also reach Pescara by train from the north of Italy.
More information will be forthcoming on the conference website.
